What is Pre-treatment of Waste?
On the 30th October
2007, a new amendment of the EC Landfill
Directive came into force that is
designed to help the UK achieve its
2010 target for the reduction of biodegradable
waste sent to landfill to 75% of that
produced in 1995.
As a business you
are now legally obliged to ensure
that only pre-treated waste is sent
to landfill. Segregating your waste
so that a 'reasonable amount' of recyclable
waste is sent for recovery is what
is meant by pre-treatment.
UK businesses now
have a legal as well as moral and
financial obligation to implement
an effective waste segregation scheme
and reduce the amount of waste they
produce which goes to landfill.

three choices as already mentioned.
